This is a tad tardy, but I want to keep my promise of informing y'all of what all transpired when Jill and Jethro were here with us in the Sunshine State!
July 4 - Wednesday. THEY ARRIVED! After I recovered from having my socks shocked off, we ambled to Atmore for some lunch at Chen's Buffet. (nothing like celebrating America with some Chinese! lol!) We continued with the previous plan of frying chicken wings and okra for supper. The guys were rendered unmovable after all that good grease, so only Jill, Max, and I took in the fabulous fireworks show north of town.
July 5 - Thursday. Jill, Max, Mel, and I scooted off to Pensacola for the day! We admired the antiques at the store of Hwy 29, (can't remember the name of it!) browsed the bargains at TJMax, munched our monstrous lunch at Moes, carted ourselves through Cordova Mall, wandered around in World Market, and topped it off with fro-yo from TCBY! Max stayed with the men for the evening, while we women enjoyed Lissa Peters' bridal shower. The toilet paper brides were the highlight of the night!
July 6 - Friday. We slept in...and stayed local. Met some friends at the Coffee House for lunch, then shopped We Care and Dirt Cheap. Wades hosted us and my folks for a pizza supper complete with chocolate pudding cake, ice cream, and fresh pecan pie.
July 7 - Saturday. Beach Day! The aqua ocean was spectacular....the waves were crashing rhythmically against the sandy shore as we relaxed and ate our packed lunches in the shade of the beach umbrellas. It was Max's first beach experience! He loved the sand, but wasn't so keen on the waves! A perfect day in the sun until we heard the tragic news of my uncle's passing....
July 8 - Sunday. All too soon, we bid our dear friends adieu! Maybe we will get up the nerve someday to drive straight through the bleary night and return the grand surprise gesture! ;)
Sounds like you had a good time:) Did Daniel know they were coming or was he surprised to?
ReplyDeleteHe knew, but only found out Tuesday afternoon. :) They were gonna surprise him too, but he thought Jethro was asking too many questions about our plans for the week and guessed that they were coming down! lol!
