the kanga 'n roo of purses

Isn't this teeny, tiny pink purse the cutest, most adorable lil thing you ever saw in the purse world?! The other week when Aunt Sue and I were briefly in Pensacola's new DSW, I spied this little gem in the neon yellow color below. I fell for it. Hard. Immediately. And couldn't get it out of my mind all week. So Monday, when Katie, Rhonda, Jacob, Neil, and I were P'cola after getting my shots, we all agreed that DSW was on the list of places we had to hit. There it still hung, tantalizing me. It's $35 price tag was giving me a bellyache though. So I hunted up a sales lady to see if the diminutive darlings were actually on sale even though there wasn't a sign proclaiming it. I was in luck, for she informed me that there were several of them in the back on the clearance rack! You have to keep in mind that this is me, queen of everything in her purse that you can think of {including salt packets}, that is wanting so badly to purchase a purse that is only large enough for a cell phone, a few plastic cards, and a penny or two! But, sometimes it is so worth it to be slightly silly and ridiculous! I walked out of DSW, the smitten owner of this purse purchased for $15.01 including tax!
{It doesn't hurt to start shopping and spending birthday $ before you even get it, right? Sometimes I really can put a whipping on procrastination!}
Thursday evening, at Katie's lovely bridal shower, they took a survey to see who had the most items in her purse. I came in first place at 30, with my dear mother coming in second with 27. I think this little purse will make 31! Carrying a purse within a purse makes perfect sense! Whenever I want to downsize, I'll simply pull my baby purse away from its mama, and go to town!
Speaking of birthdays, my school kids gave me the coolest coffee mug at my pretend birthday party on Tuesday! Sipping my joe from this colorful container is the perfect way to start the day...and its grippy bottom adheres even to my slanted podium! Awesome!

the moment

Just live in the moment and enjoy life! Yes, I want to live in the moment, but can it please be a different moment, someone else's moment? My moments are too overwhelming...I'd like a moment without worries, bills, dishes, or laundry looming. I'm tired of being tired. I know this is droll matter to blog about, but this is my moment, my "right now." And it doesn't comfort me to know that my right now moments have been brought about by my very own choices. I shouldn't complain one tiny bit. But I'm too human, too woman, I guess. But at the same time that I am feeling and thinking these drab thoughts, I know deep down in my heart that I am happy and content in spite of it all. "This too shall pass" as my mother always comfortingly quoted. And there are so many others the wide world over that would give years of their lifetime to have but a few of my privileged, blessed moments. Moments filled with true love, real friendship, good food, sins forgiven.

Here's a little list of awesome moments that I experienced today!

Sleeping in until 7:30...BLISSFUL.

Purchasing a colorful, old-fashioned braided rug that was made by hand by Leah, Mrs. Alvin Hiebert from Polly's yard sale. LOVE the turquoise accent it adds in my kitchen.

Basking in the sun {yet still shivering} on the beach with Tanya, Jen, and Mel. THANKFUL for my soft, yellow chevron blanket from Jill.

Devouring a DELICIOUS Key Lime Krispy Kreme donut on the way home.

Talking on the phone with my dad. I have the best FAMILY.

Hearing my HUBBY tell me, "Don't worry 'bout a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right!"

Figuring out once again that WRITING always makes me feel better about LIFE!

Fabulous Fieldtrip!

Last Friday, we had a fab field trip! The cannon BOOMED at Fort Gaines!

The old-timey blacksmith made a nail, an S hook, and a horse-shaped horseshoe!
{which he generously bestowed upon our class!}

On the ferry ride, the sun shone, the water sparkled, and the good times rolled!

The birthday cake oreos don't have anything to do with the field trip. I bought some at Walmart the other day, and they make me so happy! Just thought I'd share. Yay for sprinkles!

writing

Here I am again. At last. Not being able to write as often as I would like to discourages me. Because I find that the less I write, the less I feel like writing, and the less I seem to have to write about even though my life is filled to the brim and running over! There's too much to cover, so I don't know where to even begin. I won't ponder of this predicament for long. Rather, I'll just say a few things and disappear again for a space!

I ran out of gas for the first time this past week! Not fun! I'm so thankful I have a knight in shining armor that could come to my rescue!

This same valiant knight also bought, planted, and surprised me with a gorgeous red knock-out rosebush!!! I can't help but fall in love. Again....and again!

I discovered this! Haiku Love! http://haiku.nytimes.com/#top

Meeting a good friend for frozen yogurt and yakking is the best therapy for stress-reduction....

I was too ill to get an allergy shot this week; rather I got more pills to take and a prescription for antibiotics. Ugh.

The loveliest bouquet of double petunias gifted to me from a student made my day!

Diesel might have cancer.... hopefully Monday will bring only good news from the lab. Please sigh a prayer.

I need more self-denial and discipline in my life. More goals need to be attained.

I also need to be easier on myself; not beat myself up for not being SuperWoman.

Life is complicated, but also simple. But only if we let it be!

here comes the bride!

We are so super pleased and excited that my bro Anthony will be marrying his sweetheart,
Katelyn Jane Miller, on June 23!!!

She is the sweetest chick, hopefully she'll be able to bear with us. :) We all love her to pieces already. Especially Anthony. lol

I've also signed my contract to continue in the schoolmarm business next year. Only 10 kiddos and 2 grades though. Yay!!!

Lest I get fragmented to bits as in the quote below, I filed an extension for our income taxes. First time for everything I guess! But, taxes just WEREN'T happening.

“I suppose the more you have to do, the more you learn to organize and concentrate—or else get fragmented into bits." - Rumer Godden

It will be a busy, but wonderful summer.

The End.
{for now. I just got home from being at school the last 13 hours.}
